The Firehouse Gallery is one of Bordentown's oldest firehouses. A Victorian structure built in 1886, it first underwent renovation by Juanita Crosby who purchased the structure in 1969. Mr. Gibbons then bought the firehouse in 1994 and in 2003 made additional improvements to the teaching and living spaces. He is an AENJ award winning art educator recognized internationally for his innovate approach to art instruction. In June of 2019 Ms. Amy Gill purchased the firehouse and is currently renovating the space and making plans for it's new creative phase in 2020. (The site will be updates as more information is available.)
From 1994 to 2004 the gallery had hosted many exhibitions of local and international artists, poetry and music events and even some evenings of opera. Due to the expanding popularity of the owner's work, however, the Gallery became the exclusive studio for showcasing his artwork beginning in 2005. In the summers, the gallery is transformed into a teaching space for local children, and often additional classes are held in the winter months.
As an important player in both the American Revolution and Underground Railroad, Bordentown is one of New Jersey's oldest historic cities and renowned for its wonderful history in the arts.
