Due to the sale of The Firehouse Gallery, classes are on hold. We hope another art teacher will take over, and when/if they do, this webpage will be updated. If you have an interest, or know someone who might, please let us know, or click this link: REALTOR.COM or contact our realtor, Sandra Sheets at 609-731-8794.
Evening for Adults and Teens (Ages 13 and up).
Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm. November through March
Schedule:
TBA
Classes are limited to just 10 students. Students MUST furnish their own supplies.
This is a studio class where adult students can explore art in a non-judgmental environment, and for teens wishing to build their college portfolio. This is a mix of teens and adults, so teens MUST be aware that childish behavior will not be acceptable in this professional atmosphere. They will be asked to leave without refund. It is possible some students, building professional portfolios may see others creating works that may include classical nudes. If this is a problem, students should refrain from attending.
We accept students of all level of ability, from beginner to professional just seeking a regular space to paint, draw, and create. All are welcome. Instruction is individualized. While one student may be focused on portrait drawing, another may be painting a still life. The instructor, Eric Gibbons, is well versed in all traditional media, and has taught students from the ages of 4 through adults in a college setting.
Students bring their own supplies and references they wish to explore. Students may work from photos or objects they bring in. Students MAY NOT work from references like other paintings they wish to copy. A painting is an interpretation of what that artist saw. To re-create a painting based on another painting, is like a translation of a translation. It's not a good idea and NOT supported by the instructor or our program.
Sessions cost $50.00 per month, 4 weeks per month. (December has just 2 classes) Payment is expected via the Paypal link below or in the form of a check payable to "The Firehouse Gallery of Bordentown." There are no refunds for missed classes. Students joining mid-month can pay a prorated amount of $12.50 per class. We do not accept students under 13 for our evening classes.
Supply List: Bring what YOU want to work with. Please do bring an appropriate bag, box, or container for your supplies. Students wishing to work with an easel will need to bring one. ALL work must be brought home at the end of the session. Work is not to be stored at the Firehouse Gallery. Please consider this should you wish to work with oils. It may be helpful to have a flat box as a tray to carry such wet work.
If you prefer to mail a check, mail to "Firehouse Gallery," 8 Walnut St., Bordentown, NJ 08505-1725. Please use the form below and we will confirm your registration by email.
